Jestin JOSEPH MR-HSE at Soletanche Bachy, initiated the implementation of the Quality Management, Environmental Management and Health and Safety Management Standards after learning more and more of their existing and potential contractors were requesting certification
Some of our major clients were requesting that contractors be ISO certified. After doing research we decided that we should go for it with the three standards - ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Once Jestin had decided on the standards Soletanche Bachy should implement, he needed to choose a Certification Body to work with. He explained her reasons for choosing the Gabriel Registrar.
I did some independent research, but also asked some companies we know for advice, with many of them recommending the Gabriel Registrar for certification.

As Jestin and the team began working on implementing the management systems, it became clear that a lot of what they were already doing fit into the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Once the implementation process was structured, it was very clear we were already doing much of what was required for certification, and that with small changes we could improve our practices further.
GR offers each client an excellent service, and the Audit process is no exception.
Our Auditor was very thorough but also approachable and gave us some good advice on how we could improve and make our documentation work more efficiently for us.
THE RESULTS
Thanks to their determination and hard work while implementing the standards, Soletanche Bachy were formally awarded their certifications in record time.
The highlight is, we have achieved and realised that we met all of the requirements to the three standards at our Stage 1 Audit, which we weren't expecting at all! We always just worked hard and got on with things - but this was a huge boost to our confidence and staff morale.
As a result of becoming certified, Soletanche Bachy have already experienced several benefits
We have greater opportunities and can now apply for larger tenders and projects that we may not have been able to do before.
